We took a break to consider cat risk issues with graduate students

During Spring Break week, Lori Medders (Center Director) co-coordinated and team taught the graduate course Law & Risk Management at Florida State University. Fred Karlinsky, JD (Shareholder and Insurance Regulatory & Transactions Practice Co-Chair at Greenberg Traurig, PA) led the course filled with JD and MBA students. Topics included a diverse array of legal issues in RMI – the Affordable Care Act debate, flood insurance and the Biggert-Waters Act, the Assignment of Benefits problem in Florida, workers’ compensation insurance reform in Florida, Florida’s state wind pools and risk pricing based on catastrophe loss modeling, and others.
